We continue to make very good progress in the vaccination programme, and we will shortly have offered appointments to everyone in Cohorts 1-9. These cohorts cover everyone aged 50 and over, those who are clinically extremely vulnerable, people with an underlying health condition which puts them at increased risk, and unpaid carers. In addition, most residents and staff in older adults Care Homes have received their second dose and a significant number of priority health & social care staff have also received their second dose.
The next step in the programme is to commence giving second doses to the over 80s. As with their first dose, the majority of this group will receive their second dose via their GP and invitations to these clinics are already being issued. As we currently have vaccine and available vaccinators, we intend to bring forward second doses for the over 75s and run these clinics in parallel with the over 80s second dose. It is really important that everyone attend their second dose appointment to receive maximum protection from COVID-19.
The next group of people eligible for vaccination are those aged 40-49 and we hope to be in a position to send out those appointment letters by the end of this week.
If you have missed your appointment or believe you should have been offered an appointment and have not yet received one, please complete the form available on the NHS Inform website: https://www.nhsinform.scot/covid-19-vaccine/invitations-and-appointments/missing-appointment-details. If you have already completed the form, are in Cohorts 1-9 only, and have not had any follow up, you should call the appropriate booking team. Please do not call if you have not yet completed the form or if you are not in Cohorts 1-9, as they will not be able to assist you at present.
